Acceptable Use Policy

What may and may not be published or operated on the CriticalWP managed platform. Effective upon use of services.

Summary: The CriticalWP platform may only be used for lawful, legitimate business purposes. Prohibited content includes illegal material, spam, malware, adult content, and content that violates the rights of others. Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination without refund.

1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all clients using the CriticalWP managed WordPress platform, including any websites, content, forms, and functionality operated within the CriticalWP managed environment. This AUP is incorporated by reference into the CriticalWP Terms of Service.

2. Permitted Use

The CriticalWP platform is intended for lawful, legitimate business and personal website use. Permitted uses include:

  • Business websites, portfolios, and service pages
  • Informational and educational content
  • E-commerce for lawful products and services
  • Non-profit and community organization sites
  • Personal and professional blogs

3. Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited on any website operated within the CriticalWP platform:

Illegal Content

  • Content that violates any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
  • Content that infringes on intellectual property rights, including copyrights, trademarks, and patents
  • Content that facilitates or promotes illegal activity of any kind
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexualizes minors — violation results in immediate termination and reporting to appropriate authorities
  • Content that violates export control or sanctions laws

Harmful & Malicious Content

  • Malware, spyware, ransomware, viruses, or any malicious code
  • Phishing pages, credential harvesting, or fraudulent impersonation of other entities
  • Content designed to deceive, defraud, or manipulate users
  • Content that facilitates unauthorized access to systems or data

Spam & Unsolicited Communications

  • Mass unsolicited email campaigns or spam operations
  • Content designed to generate automated or bulk unsolicited communications
  • Deceptive SEO practices including link farms, cloaking, or doorway pages

Adult & Explicit Content

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit material
  • Escort services or content facilitating prostitution
  • Adult content of any kind unless explicitly approved in writing by CriticalWP prior to publication

Hate, Harassment & Violence

  • Content that promotes, glorifies, or incites violence against individuals or groups
  • Hate speech targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
  • Content designed to harass, threaten, or intimidate specific individuals
  • Content associated with designated terrorist organizations or extremist movements

Dangerous & Regulated Products

  • Sale or promotion of illegal drugs or controlled substances
  • Sale of firearms, weapons, or ammunition without proper licensing and legal compliance
  • Content promoting counterfeit goods or pirated software
  • Unlicensed pharmaceutical sales or medical misinformation designed to cause harm

Privacy Violations

  • Unauthorized collection, storage, or distribution of personal data
  • Content that publishes private information about individuals without consent (doxxing)
  • Surveillance tools or stalkerware designed to monitor individuals without their knowledge

4. Prohibited Platform Activities

In addition to content restrictions, the following activities are prohibited on the CriticalWP platform regardless of content type:

  • Using the platform to send spam or unsolicited bulk communications
  • Using the platform in ways that degrade performance or availability for other clients
  • Attempting to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the CriticalWP platform or infrastructure
  • Mining cryptocurrency or running resource-intensive background processes
  • Reselling or sublicensing CriticalWP platform access without written authorization
  • Operating automated bots or scrapers that excessively consume platform resources

5. Reporting Violations

If you believe content on a CriticalWP-managed website violates this AUP, contact us at criticalwp.com/get-started or call (512) 522-9008. Include the URL and a description of the concern. We investigate all reports and respond within a reasonable timeframe.

6. Enforcement

CriticalWP reserves the right to:

  • Remove or disable any content that violates this AUP at our sole discretion
  • Suspend or terminate access immediately for serious or repeated violations
  • Report illegal content or activity to appropriate law enforcement authorities
  • Cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations

Termination for AUP violations does not entitle the client to a refund of any fees paid. CriticalWP has no obligation to provide notice before removing content or suspending access where an immediate threat to platform integrity, safety, or legal compliance exists.

7. Client Responsibility

Clients are solely responsible for all content published on their CriticalWP-managed website, including content contributed by third parties through forms, comments, or user-generated content features. Operating a publicly accessible website does not transfer content responsibility to CriticalWP.

8. Changes to This Policy

CriticalWP may update this AUP at any time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
