AI answer engines pick sources they can read quickly and trust. We do the technical work on your WordPress site that makes that possible, then monitor the results.

More buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews before they ever visit a website. Those systems answer from pages they can crawl, parse and verify. If your site is slow, blocks crawlers by accident, or buries the answer in marketing copy, it's a weak source.
Most of the fix is technical and sits inside WordPress: markup, structure, crawler rules, speed. That's operations work, and it's what we do. We're a WebOps agency for WordPress, so the same team that keeps your site updated, secure and monitored can make it readable to AI search, with changes tested on staging before they reach production.
For the background, read our guide to WordPress AI search: schema, llms.txt and content.
We find the technical gaps first, then fix them on your site.
Changes are validated on staging, the same change discipline as our managed plans.
Schema is generated from your visible content, so structured data and page text never disagree.
We report what changed. We don't guarantee rankings, citations or traffic.
Six areas we audit and fix. The work is scoped to your site.
Organization, Service, FAQPage and breadcrumb structured data that matches what visitors actually see, so AI systems can tell who you are and what you offer.
A direct-answer block near the top of key pages that states the answer in two or three plain sentences, the format AI answers pull from.
FAQs written around the questions your customers actually ask, with matching FAQPage markup. Every answer uses facts you confirm.
robots.txt, sitemap.xml, canonicals and CDN settings reviewed so search and AI crawlers can reach your pages. Misconfigured bot rules are a common hidden blocker.
Core Web Vitals and uptime. A slow or failing page is a weak source for any crawler, and it's the same operations work we do on managed plans.
A plain-text site summary for AI systems. No major AI platform has confirmed using it, so we add it as a low-cost extra, not as the strategy.
A defined process, not open-ended consulting.
We review schema, page structure, FAQs, robots.txt, sitemap, canonicals, AI crawler access and speed, then send you a prioritized list of what to fix.
We make the fixes on a staging copy, validate them, then release to production. You confirm any facts used in answer blocks and FAQs.
We watch Search Console for changes in impressions and queries. Pair it with AI Automation Services for a monthly plain-English report.
Especially where buyers research before they call, and the answer to "who should I hire?" increasingly comes from an AI.
Law firms, financial advisors, accounting and medical practices, where trust and accuracy decide who gets cited. See industries we serve.
Stores where product, policy and shipping questions are asked of AI before a purchase. See ecommerce WordPress operations.
Teams that need consistent entity and location markup across many pages or sites.
Agencies that want a technical AEO layer for client sites. See for agencies.
Buy it on its own, or add it to managed WordPress operations so the team doing the AEO work also keeps the site updated, secure and fast. It's custom quoted. See pricing for managed plans, or contact us for an AEO quote.
AEO improves how readable your site is to AI systems. It doesn't guarantee rankings, citations or leads.
These are the issues we look for first in an AEO audit.
An SEO plugin, the theme and a page builder can each output their own markup for the same page. When they disagree, machines get mixed signals about who you are and what the page says.
CDN, firewall and security-plugin bot settings can block AI and search crawlers without anyone deciding to. We check what your rules actually do.
A noindex tag or a restrictive robots.txt carried over from staging can keep pages out of search and AI results for months unnoticed.
Long openers and vague headings make a page hard to extract from. AI systems favor pages that state the answer plainly, near the top, under a heading that asks the question.
Some crawlers don't run JavaScript reliably. Text that only appears after scripts load, such as tabs and accordions built by some page builders, may never be seen.
Timeouts, plugin errors and slow server response make a page an unreliable source. This is why AEO and WordPress operations belong together.
Each fits a different situation. These are general differences in approach, not a claim about any one provider.
| AEO or SEO plugin | Content-focused AEO agency | CriticalWP WordPress AEO | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main focus | Adds markup and settings from a dashboard | Content strategy, prompts and citations | The technical layer on your WordPress site |
| Who changes the site | You | Often you or your developer | We do, tested on staging first |
| Finds plugin and theme conflicts | Limited to its own output | Varies | Yes, across plugins, theme and page builder |
| Crawler, CDN and speed work | No | Usually not | Yes, it is our core operations work |
| Ongoing site operations | No | No | Available with a managed plan |
| Pricing | License fee | Retainer or project | Custom quoted |
AI results are harder to measure than rankings, so we use several signals together and don't promise a timeline.
Impressions and queries for the pages we changed, tracked against a baseline taken before the work.
Visits that arrive from AI tools where the referrer is identified. Some AI traffic arrives without one, so this undercounts.
A fixed list of the questions your customers ask, checked in the major AI tools on a schedule, with what each one cites.
Errors, blocked URLs, schema validation and page speed, so technical problems are caught before they cost visibility.
If you run a small site, are comfortable editing schema and have time to maintain it, a plugin plus the checklist in our AI search guide may be enough. An AEO service makes sense when you have many pages, several plugins that may conflict, a regulated or high-stakes business, or no one accountable for the site's technical health.
Ask what exactly they change on the site and who does it. Ask how they test changes before release. Ask how they measure results and what they won't promise. Be cautious of anyone who guarantees placement in ChatGPT, Gemini or AI Overviews, because no provider controls that.
